What is the best way to "WOW" a school that Im auditioning for?

1.) Play music that you are comfortable with and that you know well.
2.) Stay focused on the music while you are playing.
3.) Listen carefully to everything the panel says.
4.) Dress to impress (jacket and tie for guys, long dress for gals)
5.) Push the limit of your musicality. Listening to auditions for 8 hours is a drag. You will stick out more (in a good way) by playing as expressively as you can, even if you miss a couple of notes along the way.
6.) DON"T do anything ridiculous like switch instruments mid-song OR act "really enthusiastic". Be yourself and show them that you can make beautiful music. How you play is more important than what you say.

First off---what are you auditioning on? singing? an instrument? Prepare like a maniac but don't over practice. I think what the judges would be looking for are minimal technical mistakes and musical "good taste." Good music takes good energy, so give everything you have in the moment. But don't feel bad if you don't make it---with some major music schools don't only take perfection and musicality but faculty connections.
