Paladins in PvP will almost always be holy specced and most will be wearing healing gear. While a holy pally will not necessary take us down quickly, they are extremely difficult to kill -- they are mana-efficient healers, they can cleanse our viper stings, they wear plate, they have damage reduction talents, they can have immunity to slow, and on top of all of this we have to essentially kill them twice because of their ability to bubble.

Typically, fights against holy pallies will last a long time, since they involve burning down the pally's mana while conserving our own. Viper sting must be used in conjunction with scorpid, snake traps, or silencing shot in order to prevent the pally from cleansing it outright. Note that cleanse costs much less mana than our sting. We can trick the pally into wasting mana cleansing a rank1 viper sting, but since our sting has a reasonable cooldown, this won't exactly drain his mana quickly.

Keep aspect of the viper up to conserve mana, resist the temptation to DPS the pally down before draining his mana, and perhaps use itemrack to switch to DPS/MP5 gear.

The one weakness that pallies share is that they cannot use ranged weapons and have very few ranged options other than hammer of justice and holy shock, both of which have fairly short range. On the flip side, pallies who use blessing of freedom cannot be slowed, so they are a pain to kite. Aspect of the Cheetah can be used to keep them at a distance, but be careful not to accidentally get into range of holy shock.

Although pallies are nearly impossible to kill 1v1, the good news is that in BGs/arenas, we normally just want to keep the pally out of the way while we DPS down other targets. In this respect, hunters are the pally's worst nightmare because we can silence, scatter, and freeze the pally to interrupt his healing.
